The All Wales Passport in Manual Handling - Train the trainer Course

This course is a post basic course in moving and handling, which includes an element
of teaching. It aims to prepare lead individuals to manage and deliver manual handling training in line with current legislation & to the standards of the All Wales NHS Manual Handling Training Passport & Information Scheme (Passport Scheme). The course will involve additional work outside the sessions to develop the content and materials for assessment on the final day.

Course objectives
At the end of the training programme the trainee must be able to demonstrate:

It is further advised that the trainer should demonstrate efforts to keep abreast of developments in the field, by attendance at meetings, conferences and seminars, and ideally be a member of National Back Exchange.

Assessment :

Course length: 5 days as stipulated in the All Wales Manual Handling Training Passport & Information Scheme (Appendix 11)

  4. Getting to grips with Manual Handling ( A short guide) Leaflet published by HSE ISBN 0 7176 2828.

Refresher training

Trainers must refresh their training skills and knowledge yearly. A one day refresher course is available.
A 2 day refresher course should be undertaken if no refresher training has been done in a period of three years.
