Health and Safety
The Health and Safety at Work policy is the direct concern of all staff.
However, the major responsibilities are as follows:
- All staff including associates are charged with the duty of care for
their own safety, the safety of fellow workers and of any person within
the work area
- Trainers are responsible for health, safety and welfare of delegates
under their control.
AB First Response Ltd will:
- provide information, advice and assistance on health, safety and welfare.
- report accidents or incidents that have led or may lead to injury
or damage to health and the investigation of such accidents/incidents
to establish the cause and to take appropriate action to prevent a recurrence.
- maintain and review the company’s accident /incident recording
system.
- review annually and where necessary revise this policy, organisation
and the arrangements. Where such revisions are made they shall be brought
to the attention of all employees and associates.
- consult with staff on health and safety matters.
- provide:
a] a safe and healthy place of work and working environment
b] safe equipment and working systems
c] safe handling, transport and storage of materials and substances
d] information, instruction, training and supervision to enable employees to
recognise and minimize hazards
e] adequate welfare facilities
- establish, maintain and develop health and safety policies and procedures
to meet the requirements of relevant legislation, including systems for
monitoring and controlling performance.
- prepare and implement training programmes for staff based on safe
working methods and relevant statutory requirements.
- ensure that contractors provide a copy of their health and safety
policy and meet the requirements of the policy. Contractors will also
be required where necessary to provide a method statement detailing the
nature of any hazardous work to be carried out.
- purchase safe equipment.
- select and employ suitable persons who are competent to carry out
their work safely.
- ensure that training is delivered in a safe and healthy environment,
with adequate welfare facilities, where risks to delegates have been
reduced to the lowest practical level and this whether in hired premises
or on site at the client’s premises.
- appropriate protective equipment and clothing is provided when needed
- ensure that all equipment is properly maintained.
