First Aid Appointed Persons

Course suitable for the appointed person to comply with the Health and Safety -First Aid- Regulations 1981.The course last a minimum of 4 hours and covers duties and responsibilities of the appointed person as well as emergency first aid.

Syllabus Outline

 The course includes:

  • The duties of an ‘Appointed Person’
  • What to do in an emergency
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • First aid for the unconscious casualty
  • First aid for the wounded or bleeding

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course the student should be able to:

  • Manage a first aid incident.
  • Demonstrate the recovery position.
  • Demonstrate cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (mouth to mouth).
  • Demonstrate how to manage a heart attack.
  • Demonstrate how to deal with breathing problems.
  • Demonstrate how to deal with bleeding.
  • Demonstrate how to deal with suspected broken bones.
  • Understand the importance of the first aid kit and the accident book.

Course Duration: 4 hours

Final Test: Continuous assessment and final quiz

Certification: Certificate of attendance

Refresher Course: Yearly
