Basic First Aid Course

The course lasts one day and covers the essential of first aid through a variety of theoretical input and practical demonstrations. The participants will have the opportunity to discuss and practice first aid procedures applicable to adults, children and infants. This course is suitable for a maximum of 12 participants.

Syllabus Outline

 The course includes:

  • What to do in an emergency
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • First aid for the unconscious casualty
  • First aid for the wounded or bleeding

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course the student should be able to:

  • Manage a first aid incident.
  • Demonstrate the recovery position.
  • Demonstrate cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (mouth to mouth).
  • Manage a heart attack.
  • Deal with breathing problems/ choking
  • Deal with bleeding.
  • Recognize and deal with sun/heat stroke/hypothermia
  • Demonstrate how to deal with strains, sprains, dislocations and fractures
  • Recognize reasons for loss of consciousness e.g. alcohol /diabetes

Course Duration: 1 day  

Final Test: Continuous assessment and final quiz of 10 questions

Certification

Certificate of achievement for successful completion of the course valid for 3 years
